Plot: The story begins on Christmas Eve when a doubting boy joins other children on an extraordinary train ride to the North Pole and to Santa’s workshop. During his journey, the boy receives a special gift that shows him the power of believing. Tom Hanks stars as five separate computer-generated characters in this delightful holiday celebration.
The Polar Express was nominated for three Academy Awards and won a Grammy Award for the original song “Believe.” The film also received a special award for Outstanding Young Ensemble in a New Medium at the Young Artists Awards.
Film critic Roger Ebert says, “The Polar Express is a movie for more than one season; it will become a perennial, shared by the generations.”
